Happy Birthday!

No, I am not finally 16- but my blog is officially a year old! Reading my first post kinda makes me giggle. Just because for the most part, I haven't changed one bit, but things are definitely different these days. Different indeed.

Letter to a best friend.

I said "a" best friend for a reason. The person who this letter goes to is very special to me, as you will see. I doubt they will ever see this but here goes.

Dear best friend;

You are my best friend. And I don't mean that as like, "OMG you're my BFF!!!", but of all my friends, you are the best. You are such an example to me. You are hilarious, cute, and you stand up for what you know is right. That, in and of itself, is such an amazing thing. In high school these days, you don't see a lot of people doing that. They tend to go with the flow and "get used to" everything around them. You don't.

You never curse, or upset anyone, and to be honest- I'm so jealous of you. I wish I was as punctual as you. You have amazing grades, you have all the right friends, you are so extremely talented, and I really just love you. I hope you invite me to your wedding, so I can meet the girl you marry. I hope that she is good enough for you, because you deserve the best.

So thank you for being there for me. I know a lot of times I do stupid stuff, and I'm not always the best example. I probably make "being good" quite frustrating for you, but thank you for being strong anyways. You have made me a better person just by knowing you, and I love you for that.

Bath for Dick

I cleaned Dick's bowl today. It was getting really dirty and he looked kinda pathetic floating around on the top, trying to breathe. I'm such a good sister-thing. I really have no idea what I am to him.

Synthesis: II

BYU's jazz band "Synthesis" came again! I didn't post about them last year because this blog was created only 2 weeks later. But it was such a fantastic night! As always, I learned so much from the very talented (and attractive) Aaron McMurray. (Okay okay, he's at least 6 years older than me, but seriously, how can you NOT be attracted to a college student bass player? At BYU for crying out loud!) 

ANYways... It was great. And by selling all of our tickets, we are rewarded with the opportunity to go to NEW ORLEANS the Spring of 2012! AHHH! I'm so excited. I've always wanted to go there. But I also need to get a job :/ If anyone is interested in hiring an inexperienced-almost-16-years-old girl, I'm right here! ;)

Sue Me!

Auditions

Yesterday, I tried out for my high school's musical- Guys and Dolls. I'm really looking forward to see if I made it, and maybe even get a lead role? Who knows. The song I auditioned with is called "Adelaide's Lament". But I'll post a video of my favorite song from the musical, called "Sue Me". Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando have amazing talent. If only men were as attractive to this day! Mmm.

January Challenge

Okay Kaycee- this is for you :) And anyone else who even bothers to know more about me.

JANUARY- A detailed description of yourself

- My name is Samantha Grace Stott. My middle name is after my father's father's mother, and my mother's father's mother. (My great-grandmas).

- I go to Westlake High, and I'm a Sophomore.

- May 3rd is the day I will turn 16. And honestly, that day could NOT be any further away. 115 days!

- Music is my passion.

- Bass guitar is my instrument. But I also play piano, percussion, and I can roughly play guitar and the drum set.

- I'm a band geek- and proud of it.

- The majority of my closest friends are older than me. It can be fun and degrading at the same time. :)

- I <3 Facebook.

- Theatre is my fascination. I love to act and sing. Usually at the same time.

- I think I understand the opposite gender more than what most people would consider normal. Boys are complicated because they are simple. The End.

- I hate flies.

- I'm a full fledged morning person. But I pretend I'm not so that people don't expect a lot from me. It's sad but true.

- Laughing is how I release emotion. Even when I'm frustrated, I laugh. It's odd.

- Chapstick makes my lips dry.

- The walls in my room are green- my favorite color.

- My favorite music changes. I love love LOVE rock. Any. Right now I'm into Indie/ Alternative Rock.

- English is my favorite subject.

- Musicians are my home dawgs.

- I'm different.

So, in case you live under rock, it's a new year- 2011. Yesterday I was reading in my journal, and I read an entry I made last New Year's Day. It had all my "resolutions". The second I began reading it, that bottomless feeling of despair came, as I remembered the goals I had made- and that there were more to make. I think I have the same exact goals for this year, because the ones I made last year never happened.

Good job Sam.

Happy New Year everyone! And yes, my top goal is "lose weight". As is everyone's it seems.
