The right choice.

After days, and weeks, and months, and YEARS- just kidding, just months- I decided to discontinue marching band next season.

Marching band is one of the best choices I have ever made. I met so many amazing people and friends that I am now blessed to have in my life. I've become a much better musician from being in the band. I have learned a whole new appreciation for commitment, and a new meaning of devotion. So, I thank any and every person who was included in making my experience one to never forget. (In a good way.)
BUT, I have also come to realize that this exact time of my life is so crucial to my future. Every step I take, every word I say, every quesadilla I make- can make or break my life.

I WILL be continuing music. That's why I'm not doing marching band. I need time to work on my bass, study other instruments, get a job, and focus on school. I feel like after a long time of having this internal struggle, that I've finally made the right choice. And I'm sticking to it.
I would REALLY love to do it again though. Probably my senior year, when we go to Dallas and play in the Cotton Bowl. Yeah, that sounds cool.

Okay, I feel better now. Thanks for listening :)

I dig it.

So, I got implants today. (IN MY MOUTH. I can't even tell you how many shocked reaction I've received. Sheesh.) The dentist drilled a hole in my head and shoved a screw in it. It took like an hour. Which wasn't bad, but his arm was in the way the whole time, so I couldn't watch The Office: Season 3. :( But that's okay.

Because of my "condition" (I was really fine), I got to stay home in bed all day. I've had lots of visitors!
Cotton came over during his lunch break to say hi and check up on me, which was very nice of him :) Then at about 3, I got to hang out with Morgan. We talked for a while and it was really good to catch up. Then at about 5, Darrick, Vanessa, and Cara came. What a blast! We ate cookies, and colored. We legitimately got out some markers and coloring books.

Heck. Yes.
Oh, and I've just been eating ice cream and canned raviolis all day. And having an Indiana Jones Marathon in my bed room. And playing my bass. And just being my awesome self.

In conclusion, I could really get used to this. :)

Happy Birthday!

No, I am not finally 16- but my blog is officially a year old! Reading my first post kinda makes me giggle. Just because for the most part, I haven't changed one bit, but things are definitely different these days. Different indeed.

76 days until the new logo! ;)
(AKA, my 16th birthday.)

February Challenge

**UPDATE: The first song playing on my blog (Ocean Avenue by Yellowcard) is the one that best reminds me of this person, we have good memories singing it! :) It will be gone soon though, in case you don't like that music. Thanks :)

Letter to a best friend.
I said "a" best friend for a reason. The person who this letter goes to is very special to me, as you will see. I doubt they will ever see this but here goes.

Dear best friend;
You are my best friend. And I don't mean that as like, "OMG you're my BFF!!!", but of all my friends, you are the best. You are such an example to me. You are hilarious, cute, and you stand up for what you know is right. That, in and of itself, is such an amazing thing. In high school these days, you don't see a lot of people doing that. They tend to go with the flow and "get used to" everything around them. You don't.
You never curse, or upset anyone, and to be honest- I'm so jealous of you. I wish I was as punctual as you. You have amazing grades, you have all the right friends, you are so extremely talented, and I really just love you. I hope you invite me to your wedding, so I can meet the girl you marry. I hope that she is good enough for you, because you deserve the best.
So thank you for being there for me. I know a lot of times I do stupid stuff, and I'm not always the best example. I probably make "being good" quite frustrating for you, but thank you for being strong anyways. You have made me a better person just by knowing you, and I love you for that.
Stay cool.

Bath for Dick

I cleaned Dick's bowl today. It was getting really dirty and he looked kinda pathetic floating around on the top, trying to breathe. I'm such a good sister-thing. I really have no idea what I am to him.

You can add him on facebook if you wish :) I think that would make him feel really special if you did.

Synthesis: II

BYU's jazz band "Synthesis" came again! I didn't post about them last year because this blog was created only 2 weeks later. But it was such a fantastic night! As always, I learned so much from the very talented (and attractive) Aaron McMurray. (Okay okay, he's at least 6 years older than me, but seriously, how can you NOT be attracted to a college student bass player? At BYU for crying out loud!)

ANYways... It was great. And by selling all of our tickets, we are rewarded with the opportunity to go to NEW ORLEANS the Spring of 2012! AHHH! I'm so excited. I've always wanted to go there. But I also need to get a job :/ If anyone is interested in hiring an inexperienced-almost-16-years-old girl, I'm right here! ;)

If you want to hear us playing the song "Vehicle" you can follow this link.
